I didn't become a fan of flea markets until after I moved to Los Angeles. Between the
Melrose Trading Post,
Rose Bowl Flea Market, and a few others held around the city, it's hard not to see the charm and opportunity flea markets present. While browsing the outdoor aisles, I can't help but notice that everything for sale seems to be only a short DIY step away from becoming a better version of what it once was, which in turns fills my mind with this grandiose vision of me spending afternoons refurbishing said items and putting them somewhere in my home with the satisfaction of knowing I saved money and recycled. But alas, my dream stops there, as more times than not I walk away empty handed for fear of ending up with a house filled with odds + ends that don't make any sense. However, after seeing this home, which is mostly filled with flea market finds, I'm certain I need to step up my game and make a purchase (or two) the next time I'm there.

I'm with you - I become super creative while looking around the flea market... then end up not getting anything because I'm too lazy to DIY anything LOL. These pics are inspiring though... love the clean but rustic white wood backdrop everywhere, makes for endless possibilities! I need that argyle floor.

Seeing as I have both a vintage jewelry and a vintage "everything else" shop, I shop at Flea Markets and the like for a living - and I love it. You are lucky to be close to some great ones :)
Subsequently, my house is quite full of said items!
Love these pictures - it really is inspiring to walk around a flea market and fantasize about all the amazing ways you can transform the different items, though to be honest I don't think I am creative enough to do a good job. :) Knowing me, I would just use the item in the exact same way it was presented - dining room chair? Dining room. I really like the blue chair in the bedroom though, it was a nice touch!

I love the light fixtures in your first image! And the books in the second, piled neatly along the wall, but seriously, I can see myself pulling the one I need, it's in the middle of the pile, and BAM! the rest of them come toppling down on top of me! Hah!
So beautiful! Flea markets are wonderful!

I love how every pop of color is intentional and all the rustic elements combine to create a contemporary look. Thanks for sharing this unique space!
I love all of the pops of color! One of my colleagues has an amazing home with all flea/antique market finds and I die each time I see it.
I wish i could find these kind of things in our flea markets! perfect colorfoul home
I feel like flea markets here in Toronto just don't compare! I wish I could find anything remotely awesome, but alas, I have to live vicariously through you galls that are near some pretty awesome shopping spots ;)

It took me a long time to grow comfortable with flee-market pieces in my home - but now they're what makes my home feel like ME. It's all about knowing what "look" you're going for so that, as you say, the odds and ends make sense. For example, my living room was inspired by Ralph Lauren and old-world East Coast prep schools. I've incorporate school pennants, an antique steamer trunk, dark and heavy blankets, and wooden games.
i feel the exact same way! i will gladly brave the LA flea markets with you anytime you want!
love that bookcase!
