Joyful Noise, the new Warner Bros. movie starring Oscar nominees Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah, is an inspirational film filled with laughter, joy, music, hope, love, and renewal.
After the death of the town's choir director, Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), a single hardworking mother of two, is given the position, only to come face to face with G.G. Sparrow (Parton) a fiery, tried-and-true gal who wants to give the choir direction in the way she sees fit.
Their bumpy journey to win the National Joyful Noise Competition leads them on a path filled with many of life's rawest emotions, but if they can overcome their differences and find a common voice, Vi Rose, G.G., and the choir may make the most joyful noise of them all.
Joyful Noise is such a powerful film that it made me think of a strong woman in my life: my Mom, who lived her life with a quiet mission to bring hope, love, and kindness to others.
A bright, shining light amongst her family, friends, and church, my Mom maximized her heart's capacity on a daily basis by lending a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it be through children's and adult ministries, volunteering at organizations like Juvenile Diabetes Research, sending monthly care packages to our soldiers overseas, building homes in Mexico for the less fortunate, or cleaning the church's auditorium, bathrooms and classrooms, no task was too big or too small for her to give it all that she had.
Since her passing in 2007, not a day goes by that I don't come across an example of how my Mom's open heart and helping hands made an impact in someone's life, most specifically my own and the ways she motivated me to go above and beyond what is just expected.
In 2010, my Dad and Uncle traveled to Mexico to build a church in my Mom's honor, in hopes that her tenacious work ethic, unwavering faith, compassion for others, and loving spirit will continue to inspire.
Women like my Mom serve as a daily reminder to leave our pride at the door and offer the most simple yet powerful tool we were given: our hearts.
I hope that you will join me in seeing Joyful Noise and take a moment to reflect on how we can all be more inspiring women to our family, friends, communities, and most importantly, each other.
Now it's time to tell your story! Leave a comment and tell me about a special woman who's made a difference in your life and how she's inspired you.
Joyful Noise opens in theaters January 13th, but you can receive news and updates about the movie on the Warner Bros. Pictures Twitter and the film's Facebook!

A lot of crazy things happened in my family when I was a lot younger and my Mom somehow kept me away from all of it while maintaining "normalcy". Looking back on that and thinking what I would have done in the situation, I don't know how she did it. It must have been so hard and she was so exhausted all the time. I think without her doing what she did, I would have been an entirely different person.
This is so sweet. I know my mom is still my biggest inspiration. She somehow managed to keep my brother, sister and I on a somewhat normal schedule after she and my dad got divorced (the oldest was 14, youngest was 7 at the time). Ever since then she's always been there for me, to help me grow and to help me in every situation I could ever imagine.
You mother sounds like she was a supremely wonderful human being. We could definitely use a whole lot more of her type in our lifetime, I'm sure! Thank you for sharing your story - it was just what I needed this morning
Annemarie-
This is such a touching story. It is obvious that your mother was a wonderful woman, and she will always live on through you.
Thank you for sharing this sweet story, and i can't wait to see the movie.

wow, your mom was a hero! she is the kind of person who will be remembered by others for decades... my mom is also very helpful, she dies to see her family happy and has made lots of sacrifices to see us happy. She doesn't care about the best bag or car for her but for the ones she loves. I am happy to see that now she is taking time for herself (until her daughters were away home, not before).
Wow. Your mom was a pretty unbelievable woman. I see the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. XOXO
this is so beautiful and your mom sounds like an amazing woman! My mom is definitely the strongest most amazing person I know . She also has that silent resolve to always help and to love others unconditionally. I am definitely intrigues by the film.
This was such a touching post. Your mother sounds like she was an amazing woman. I agree with Greetings from Texas...I'm sure you are very much like her. Looking forward to seeing the film. xx
What a beautiful post Annemarie, your mum sounds amazing. Personally, my younger sister inspires me in a lot of ways. She's a lot easier-going than I am, and always so happy and carefree. She reminds me to let loose a little bit and enjoy the little things in life. Maybe I'll take her to see the film, it'd be a great little outing I think
Such a beautiful post. Your Mom sounds like she was an amazing woman with a huge, huge heart. I'm sorry she passed away.
My coworker inspires me. He has gone through many hardships in his life yet he continues to have a very positive outlook on life and always lives it to the fullest. I look up to him.
This is wonderful, thank you for sharing with us. I'm so sorry for your loss but am so happy that you take her memory and use it as a daily reminder and motivator. She sounds so beautiful inside and out...just like you!
xx

The movie looks good, can't wait to see it!
Annemarie, having met your mother I know your description of her and her giving ways is 100% accurate. Your Nana and I still talk about her and how very proud she was and would be of you.
You are carrying on her legacy of love and compassion for others.
Annemarie, your Mother is smiling down upon you everyday but is right now dancing in Heaven as she shares your beautiful testimony with her family and friends. I have always considered myself blessed to have known your Mom and of course you and your grandparents.....blessings in this new year.... continue to be amazing!
I already wanted to see the movie, but now even more because I'll think of you and your mom. LOVE.
I love my Aunt, shes that woman for me.
What a beautiful post Annemarie! I know that your mother's impact on the world continues in the kind acts of you and your family. *hugs*

Annemarie, that was such a beautiful tribute to your Mother. I knew her as a child and a young woman, through my Valenti cousin's. The last time I saw her, she was holding you as a newborn.
You have truly turned out to be an amazing woman, and an inspiration to all.
Beautifully written. And what an amazing mother you had. My father passed away in 2006. And my mom has raised just my brother and I for quite some time now, even before my dad passed away. My mom is one amazing woman. I don't know what I would do without her!
