The Reveal! My Guest Bedroom Makeover with Sherwin-Williams Chip It!

I'm so excited to finally show you my guest bedroom makeover that I did using the Sherwin-Williams Chip It! button. If you missed any of my previous posts leading up to this one, including how I used the Sherwin-Williams Chip It! button to pick a paint color palette for my room and how I then used the palette to help me choose accessories, you can read the posts here and here.

In the last post I revealed that I was going to use Sherwin-Williams Worldy Gray for the entire room. After getting it home and putting up a few sample swatches, I realized that the color wasn't dark enough for my room. There are two really large windows in there and with the amount of light flooding in, that particular color looked white. I was bummed because it's such a gorgeous color, but I went back to my local Sherwin-Williams store and the salesperson there was so helpful in helping me choose another gray. She suggested I use Amazing Gray instead, which is just one shade darker than Worldly Gray (they're on the same color palette). The color turned out beyond what I could have imagined; I love it!

Well, since I rent, I can't use the Chip It! tool for my own home. But, I would like to use it to redo the guest room in my parents' new home. The room still has depressing white walls and I'd like to make it feel cozier when I come to visit..

We too have been wanting to redo our guest bedroom (so I guess that would be the room). Its always amazing to me how changing a room can make such an impact. I liked your room before, but now it looks so much brighter. I also like how you used the singer stand as a table. I have one almost identical and never thought of using it like this, so maybe I will have to try it. Thanks again.

Oh my word, I am in love! It is just stunning, and you did an amazing job!

I think I'd want to make-over my bedroom. When my husband and I got married, we compromised and kept it "gender friendly", I guess you could say. Now, I really love the look of lighter colors, as seen above!

What a GORGEOUS makeover!! I also would like to redo my bedroom. It is very pretty and neutral but not the color I would like. Plus I recently bought a beautiful tufted headboard and I think the right color on the walls would really make it Pop!

I would love to redo my guest room or office in my new home. I just bought a home and have spent a ton fixing it up. My master bedroom has a very similar clean, neutral style (with a little glamour) very similar to your redone guest bedroom. You have done a great job. I love chandeliers and would love the DIY info. Can't wait to check it out.

My wife and I recently purchased a townhouse, and the walls are the 'cookie cutter' yellow/brown/beige. Needless to say it is a total mood killer. We want our future child's bedroom to be a creative palace, and Chip-It would be a great help!

I would absolutely love to redo my bedroom. I've never felt 100% at home there. Like you, I have some great windows that let in a bunch of light so a white/grey theme is definitely tricky. I don't want to wash out the room but that color scheme is something I've always wanted to do but didn't know how to accomplish.

I am a real baker and Love being in the kitchen to create, I hate being in my dreary kitchen. I want to paint the cupboards and the backsplash and play off the colors of my kitchenaid mixer (cobalt) and Pfaltzgraff diahes (Bright Pistoulet pattern). Being able to do this make-over would truly be a blessing. It would make my cupcakes that much sweeter :) Thanks!!

My dream for a new makeover, would be a former bedroom in our basement. I need to make this over for a physical therapy/exercise room.

I had a hip replacement almost 7 years ago, that ended in a nightmare of permanent nerve damage to my lower leg. I have severe cramping, and sometimes seizures, so I need to do physical therapy daily to relieve the pain, and strengthen the leg. I do have some equipment-a recumbent bike, a mini-trampoline, an AB-doer chair. This room is also large enough to do workout videos. We have primer on the walls, but need paint, and most importantly, need flooring, as it is just the old, uneven cement floor. It also needs a ceiling covering to hide the dark brown exposed beams and wiring. And then new lights. I am also dreaming of a raised table/bench, like at the physical therapy business, so I can do the leg and stomach exercises that are normally done on the floor, because I cannot get up and down from the floor without help, or the possibility of injury. It is cost prohibitive for me to go out of our home for therapy. We live 12 miles from the nearest town, on hilly and winding roads, which are quite dangerous during our Michigan winters. I rarely go out in winter now, because of the dangers of falling on the ice.

(For those of you who don't understand what nerve damage does: my leg is in the constant state of what it feels like when your leg falls asleep, and you can't feel it correctly, and the sensation of it "waking up", when you step down on it, and you are wobbly and off balance. Sometimes it feels like I am holding on to an electric fence, and shocks shoot thru my leg, and cause seizures. That is my "normal" now. It has not changed for 7 years.)

I pray that you will consider my entry, so that I can recover my health to the best of my ability. Thank you!

Jena @ Involving Color and Home said...

Annemarie, this room is beautiful! Amazing Gray was the perfect color choice, and I definitely agree going a shade darker was the way to go. I'd love to feature this on my paint color blog. You wouldn't have to do a thing, just let me know if you're interested!
