DIY: Glitter Candles

DIY glitter candles
When I was standing in line at Rite Aid the other day they had one of those bargain displays filled with these mini holiday-scented candles. I'm not really one for anything scented, but the cinnamon candles actually smelled really good for being as cheap as they were, so I decided to buy a few for our mantel. Once I got them home, I thought it would be fun to take out the Mod Podge and Martha Stewart glitter (in smoky quartz) and spruce them up a bit. Seriously, is there anything that glitter doesn't look good on?

How to:

This DIY was easy-peasy. I peeled off the candle's label, brushed on the Mod Podge with a small paint brush, and finished by dousing them with glitter. That's it. Simple, right? If you're worried about little specs of glitter getting on your mantel or tables, you can add a second layer of Mod Podge to "seal" everything (don't worry, it will dry clear).

Side note: I was being too stingy with the glue at first, as you can see in the photo above. Be sure to use a liberal amount of Mod Podge so you don't see any streaks once the glitter dries. In the photo below, you can see I added a lot more glue, which made it much easier to apply an even layer of glitter.
