Rachel Zoe for JOCKEY + $100 Giveaway

If there's one thing that I'm on a seemingly endless search for, it's comfortable and functional undergarments that won’t drastically change my body shape (which I’m learning how to feel more comfortable with as I age). I can't tell you how many times I've come across a camisole that seemed to fit perfectly in the store, only to wear it and spend the next 12+ hours pulling it down after it budged its way up. And shapewear? I had an awful time at a friend's wedding once after I shimmied my way into one of those slimming body shapers that squeezed my midsection and chest so tight that I found myself lightheaded and having trouble breathing, all the while completely losing the shape that makes me ME.

Needless to say, my success rate with all things undergarments has been pretty low in the past, so when BlogHer, along with Rachel Zoe and Jockey, sent me over a few pieces of Rachel Zoe’s "Major Must Haves" from Jockey, new shapewear line for the iconic brand, I was a little (okay a lot) skeptical.

"The Strappy Tank"
The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was that, unlike other shapewear that looks like it's made for an infant when it comes out of the package, Jockey's pieces were the size that an actual woman with bloating, water retention, puffiness, insert-many-other-symptoms-here needs for full coverage. I decided to try out the the Strappy Tank first, pairing it with a blouse and skinny jeans. At the end of the day, I realized that I didn’t once fuss with the camisole while it was on. I loved how long it was, and that it had 3 panels (bra, midriff, and lower) that hid those few bulges that I try so hard to conceal! And while I did feel a tad bit “slimmer” wearing it, the most important thing to me was that I felt comfortable. Yes, the camisole itself is comfortable (it’s breathable cotton), but I also felt comfortable in my own skin. It didn’t change my body drastically; it simply enhanced the curves and shape of my body that I’m learning to love, while covering the few things that make me self-conscious as a woman.

"Tummy Shorts." Love these.
I’ve since tried the Tummy Short, which I loved times a million because it hid that oh-so-annoying muffin top that seems to haunt us no matter what size we are. I also wore the 2-panel Slip Shaper under a dress, and not only did it help smooth everything out (even undies lines) but I could breathe and move comfortably the entire time.
I’m so excited that I tried this new line from Jockey because it was exactly the kind of shapewear I was looking for: comfortable and functional while still allowing me to look and feel like myself.

Rachel Zoe’s “Major Must Haves” from Jockey are available now in major retailers, Jockey® outlet stores, and on Jockey.com®.

A few years ago I wore a super form-fitting sweater dress with no shapewear and the pictures were horrendous...

Looks great and the vest actually looks long enough not to end up under my arms after a couple of hours - yes, I know exactly what you mean about the perils of shape wear ;-) I wonder when this range will be available in the UK... xo

I wore a dress to the company Christmas party last year and WAS wearing shapewear until I realized that it was such bad quality that it really did nothing for me anyway and I wasted my money. Next time I'll know to invest in a well made shaper!

Def my wedding! I got married on the beach and wanted more than anything to be comfortable, but I cringe when I see my cheap bra poking through my dress.

I wear a compression stocking thigh hi on one leg due to DVT. I have a sweater dress that is really cute and comfortable but it is a bit form fitting and I wish I had worn a garment on this day (I forgot). Let's just say you could tell I had the stocking on and that I needed to work on getting my stomach muscles a bit more in shape than they were at the time.

Oh god-- have spent so many days pulling down bunching camisoles!! Can so relate! I really could have used some shapewear that time I decided to wear an extra tight light grey dress that may or may not have accidentally accentuated my cellulite.

Nantucket Daffodil said...

Love this! I have always hated pulling down the tank all day! The length is what I find most appealing!

I'm always looking for good camis that don't ride up! Excited to give this line a whirl :)

I love wearing shapewear shorts and have a few expensive pairs that I will no longer wear:they start to roll after wearing them for only a few hours! I can't keep going into the bathroom at a friends wedding, cocktail party or dinner to pull the waist back up. I am in need of a new shapewear line!

I was once a bridesmaid who got to wear a full length back lace up dress. A modesty panel was included and when I tried on the dress everything stayed in place. I packed my usual thong and headed to the wedding. Insert all day having to reattach (or locate!) my modesty panel and the whole wedding party seeing my booty. man would a shaper or something a little more coverage have decreased lots of embarrassment!

I remember the day I was the matron of honor at my friends' very casual backyard vows. It was a beautiful day, but I felt very self-conscious of how I looked in my clothes.
