Writings on the [Kitchen] Wall

The past few weeks I've been debating whether or not to use chalkboard paint in our kitchen (technically it will be on a large pillar- not an entire wall), so last night I looked up some inspiration photos to give me that extra umph. Here are some of my favorites:

And if I chicken out, I like this hanging board from Pottery Barn:

What are your thoughts on chalkboard paint? I'm mostly afraid of ruining the wall if I mess up. Is chalkboard paint reversible/fixable?! Ahh- so many q's!

I love this idea!! I actually love all your ideas and inspiration, it is extremely helpful for a girl that just bought our first place:) So thanks so much for all the inspiration!!

But anyways, the chalkboard paint, love it. Though I'm not too sure about the after effects of it on a wall. But its such a great idea and would be so useful in the kitchen

I can be a bit crazy about keeping things clean, so I don't think I could handle the inevitable dust residue that would sit on the paint until you washed it down... but I DO love the idea! Might have to get just one little chalk board for the kitchen, but not sure about painting an entire wall :-)

So using it in my mudroom/pantry!

I am in love with chalkboard paint. I make boards that I decorate or frame painted chalkboard. I love it on kitchen and the children's room!
You can paint over it easily with primer. You may need to sand it down a little.
Have a a great day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I love yours!! I am contemplating the same thing for my kitchen wall. It is just a little nook in my kitchen. I have the paint and I bought magnetic primer so we can hang things on it too. I really don't know what I am waiting for. I love all your pic's. I should just go for it

I have never even thought about it for the kitchen, though I have thought it was a neat concept for a playroom. Maybe start small with one little section of wall?

& I think the magnetic idea from ^Jill^ sounds terrific, too!

Still love this idea ... The perfect solution for an "ADD" like me to stay focused ! My whole laundry room door is painted for shopping lists. I just take a picture with my cell right before I walk out the door !

I love the chalkboard look!!! A friend of mine bought a tall board from home depot and painted it with the chalkboard paint. She propped it against the wall, so if your worried about painting on the wall you can try that.

I don't know if it's reversible, but it's just so fun right? I also posted about this a few months ago but we can't do anything to our walls yet since we're renting. It would be great in a large frame though!

What a wonderful idea. I think I would do that for my home office.

Let us know which you decide to do. Good luck.

I love the idea!! But am still on the fence about it~ our Chiro has it in her office and she says its high maintenance to get off... could be the paint she used.

I did find some wall decals which are repostional ... there is adesign around it that looks like a frame and the inside is chalk board board ... I have found it easy to wipe off... email me if you would like be to email you a picture of it..

Good luck!!!HHL

I love this idea, especially love what they did with the first one. We actually have one at the office, we use it for brainstorming etc - not as fun as grocery lists and dinner menus!

I don't know if it's reversible. Gee I wish I had the answer for you!! But I do know that it looks great and if it's on a pillar in your room it could be super cool. I hope you get brave and give it a whirl!! Would love to see it work out for because anytime I see it in pictures I always swoon and wish :)

I love chalkboard paint, though I totally understand your fear of messing up the wall. I think you could totally do a section of the wall, though, or like you suggested, a framed board like the Pottery Barn one. I think risks are almost always worth taking, so I'd say go for it. ;)

I just stopped by your blog! I painted a small but really tall wall with chalkboard spray paint and i love it! I put corkboard on parts of it too so it doubles as a chalkboard and a corkboard! The only thing I would say is cover anything else in the room, I ruined my white blanket just from the stuff floating in the air...it is now grey...haha! Good Luck with your project!!

I've been on a hunt for chalkboard paint for awhile now, there is one small wall in my kitchen that I'm dying to paint! Haven't been having any luck finding it in my little corner of France. I wonder if you can buy it on the internet?

If it weren't for my asthma, I'd want a chalkboard in my kitchen. It's stylish and economical at the same time.

Novel idea!
