5 Beauty DIYs: Magnetic Makeup Boards & Brush Holders

If there's one thing that needs a bit tidying up in my life, it's that of my makeup drawer. I am compulsive about cleaning and organizing throughout our home, cars, etc., but the one place that simply falls through the cracks is that little tiny drawer to the right of my bathroom sink. Being an avid mineral makeup wearer, I've grown accustomed to having a cloth or towel nearby to wipe everything down afterward, but I'm still afraid to put the containers inside anything but a plastic bag out of fear they'll quickly ruin the material of a makeup bag. And since I don't have a catch-all bag, I try to (as neatly as possible) lay my brushes and miscellaneous pieces down flat in the drawer, but their organized stance lasts just until the next time I open it, when everything becomes scattered once more. All of this frustration led me to a quick search for DIY makeup holders, which surprisingly turned up awesome results. Here are a few organized solutions I'm loving:

Love this! I keep my makeup in a big makeup bag bc our bathroom is so teeny and I don't have a drawer I can use for it :( The joys of living in the Big Apple!

This is perfect timing. I am in major organization mode and cleaning out everything. Love the idea of the beans in the jars to seperate brushes!

The last picture is absolutely perfect! I've thought about doing something like this for my makeup, but living in a sorority house, this may not be such a good idea.

These are great ideas! I have my makeup brushes in a jar with beads in it, purchased at Michael's, which works really well! But I never considered making a magnetic board to hold my makeup, that is a really cool idea!

Love this ideas. I know what you are referring to with the mineral makeup. The magnetic board looks like a great idea.
Have a nice evening, Annemarie.

Love both ideas! They look so pretty. But consider that having your making exposed in the bathroom (with all the vapour and humidity) will damage it
:s :(

Brilliant - I love the idea of the dried beans... and also how beautiful the packaging of makeup can be if it's openly displayed in an organised, clean way.

Love those pictures. You should check out Veronika's blog, she has a very cute video I found really helpful for storing make up for every day use in an organized way. (I don't know her, but I like her blog)

Oh, what a nice idea! If I actually wore make-up more often/had more make-up I'd actually consider doing this.

Hmmmm?! Must. Think. Of. Another. Way.

I have a bunch of photos of magnetic makeup boards saved too cause I thought it was an amazing idea too! That said I still have my makeup in huge ziplock bags cause I find it's easy to find everything (haven't gotten around to making the makeup board). Btw if you do do it there's magnetic paint you can buy now so you can make the entire board magnetic. For your brushes you can also cut one of those makeup brush bags, put Velcro on it and Velcro it inside your vanity door. Good luck with your makeup organizing, I'm trying to be better at keeping my place better organized. Btw thanks for stopping by my blog.

You know what? I've been thinking about organizing my makeup and jewelry as well! After scouring through Pintrest for party favor ideas, I came across using mason jars for gifts, and noticed how cute my makeup brushes and bathroom supplies would look in them.

The little glass jars and containers at Michaels, Anthropologie and The Container Store offer really cute and inexpensive varieties too! I think I have a DIY project for tonight, thanks to your posting. :)

Cheers!

This is a great post! I'm absolutely going to be doing this with my brushes. I found an acrylic organizer for my makeup, and I didn't know what to do about my brushes. Perfect!! Now I just want an entire space devoted to getting ready. Also, what happened to your Keurig post from Google Reader?

A great idea but I'm not sure my husband would go it! My makeup drawer is in need of some love though too... The funny thing is half of it is filled with nail polish and the half is Mac blush... can't half tell what I love!

A lot of make-up artist do that with their magnetic board and make-up to save up space for their collections would really be a big problem if they don't do that.
